Wednesday, February 5th is Global School Play Day and World Read Aloud Day.
The Big Picture: The children will have the ENTIRE DAY here at school to play “traditional” no-tech games - board games, cards, building, action figures, and the like - with their classmates, teachers, specialists, and me. This days turns into the phenomenal opportunity to give our children practice in communication, collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, access to the games they have never played, and overall FREE PLAY! The teachers will have the children reflect on their experiences at various points throughout the day.
In addition to games all day, each student is asked to bring in their favorite picture book to share with the class.
Older siblings will have the option of reading to their younger siblings’ classes across the day.
What’s next: THERE WILL BE HOMEWORK…CONTINUE the PLAY!
Start thinking about what board games your children would like to bring in to play (no electronics) and their favorite picture book to share. Thank you in advance for your support of play!
You might also enjoy going to www.storylineonline.net to hear wonderful books read aloud by famous actors. There’s a great book selection on this website and the read-alouds are engaging and overall enjoyable!
