At Hubbard School, we celebrated Global School Play Day, embracing the power of play to enhance students’ learning and development. This special day provided our students from pre-K to third grade with an opportunity to engage in activities that were not only enjoyable but also essential in fostering crucial life skills.

As Fred Rogers wisely said, “Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.” This quote resonates deeply with us at Hubbard, as we recognize the invaluable lessons children learn during play. Whether through imaginative role play, structured games, or collaborative building, play offers children the chance to practice and strengthen the skills they need to succeed, both inside and outside the classroom.

Play: A Fundamental Skill-Building Experience

Play is much more than just an enjoyable break from routine—it’s a vital tool for developing important skills such as problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. At Hubbard School, we understand that the experiences children have while playing often mirror the challenges and situations they’ll face in life. It’s through these playful interactions that children learn how to negotiate, share, manage frustration, and work as part of a team.

Supporting the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate

The activities students engaged in on Global School Play Day not only supported social-emotional development but also aligned with the Profile of a Ramsey Graduate Competencies. By playing together, students practiced skills like collaboration, communication, and creative problem-solving—competencies that are crucial to becoming successful, compassionate, and engaged members of society. Play also helps students foster empathy and respect for others, both of which are key values in our school community.

A Day of Joy and Learning

On Global School Play Day, students participated in a variety of activities that balanced fun with learning. From team games to free exploration, children practiced social skills, built creativity, and reinforced academic concepts through active engagement. Teachers guided the play experiences, fostering collaboration and encouraging students to think critically while enjoying themselves.

Celebrating Play Every Day

Play is not just a one-time event but a vital, ongoing part of our students' learning journey. The insights gained through these activities reinforce key academic concepts, enhance problem-solving abilities, and strengthen peer relationships. At Hubbard School, we continue to recognize that the value of play goes far beyond entertainment—it builds the foundation for lifelong skills that empower our students to thrive in both academic and social settings.

Thank you to all who contributed to making Global School Play Day a joyful and meaningful experience. We are excited to continue integrating the benefits of play into our students' everyday learning. Let’s keep the spirit of play alive in all we do!
