Excitement is building as Dater School prepares to host its first ever Book Swap event, offering an opportunity for students to exchange their favorite reads. Two 5th grade students, Claire S. and Lucy O., brought this idea to Mrs. Lawley.

Why it matters: The Book Swap encourages students to share their love for literature, fostering a culture of reading and collaboration.

  • Students can discover new authors and genres.

  • The event promotes sustainability by rehoming books rather than buying new ones.

The big picture: Events like the Book Swap are essential in creating a vibrant and engaging school community.

  • They provide a platform for students to connect over shared interests and passions.

  • Such initiatives support the school's mission to enhance educational experiences beyond the classroom.

What’s next: Mark your calendars for the Book Swap. It will take place on Friday, May 9th during school. Also, start collecting old books that you’d like to swap, and send them in to school. Collections will take place in the homerooms from April 21st through May 6th.
