Dater teachers are always learning-- and creating! At today's faculty meeting, Principal Glebocki reminded us that creativity isn't just an extra in the classroom; it's essential. When we nurture creativity in our teachers, we ignite it in our students too!
5Modesto/Azouri and 5Gesualdo/Thomson wrapped up their informational writing unit with a gallery walk, displaying all of their hard work and growth. ✨ Students shared compliments, cheered each other on, and honored the power of learning together.
The Dater fifth grade band is off to a fantastic start with over 120 members. We are currently learning how to play together as an ensemble and introducing concepts like dynamics and watching the conductor. Looking forward to the final product in May. 🎺🎹🥁🎷🪈🎼

Ms. Doherty's GATE students explore communicable disease transmission and contact tracing by becoming disease detectives! We argued (productively), explored new diseases and discovered PATIENT ZERO!! 😷🤒
Teamwork makes the dream work! Yesterday, a few 5th graders spoke to the whole school about the importance of teamwork, leading by example, showing respect, standing up for what's right, and celebrating yourself while also appreciating everyone's differences. Dater students and staff are committed to creating a school community that proudly stands as a No Place for Hate!
5Johnstone dug into Word Study and got creative! Students teamed up to invent brand-new words using four Greek and Latin roots, crafted definitions that show how the roots build meaning, and wrote sentences to bring their words to life. Bring on the vocabulary adventures!
The Dater Media Center is teaming up with the Ramsey Public Library once again! Students learned about the rules, deadlines, and prizes for the Young Writers Contest, then explored winning student stories from past years to see what makes a strong fiction piece. Inspired and energized, students jumped right into brainstorming ideas for their own original stories. ✏️💻📚
A creative 5th grade student shared an idea for a new recess club, and Dater listened! This new game club gives students a chance to meet during recess to learn new games while practicing essential life skills, like turn-taking, cooperation, and good sportsmanship. 🃏🎲
4Guarnieri kicked off 2026 by collaborating, reflecting, and setting new personal and academic goals! Students engaged in meaningful conversations, reflected on their learning, and set intentional goals to challenge themselves and grow! We’re so excited for all they will continue to accomplish this year!
Students in 4Ramsden learned about the layers of the Earth by taking "core samples" of play-doh!
🎶 Registration is now open for students to join Dater's after-school Chorus! Students will sing, perform, and collaborate with others who share their passion for music, while preparing for exciting concerts and special events throughout the spring.

Students in 5Modesto/Azouri started 2026 by setting personal goals for themselves in the new year. Setting goals empowers them and reminds them that growth is possible. We are kicking off the new year in 5MA with positivity, purpose, and a whole lot of belief in ourselves- here's to a year of growth and success! 🎊💫
