Check this out! In a cultural lesson by Senora King, Spanish classes learned about El Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, and how it is celebrated in Mexico. It is a very important happy holiday this time of year in Mexico, and is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the lives of those who have passed away. Students learned about the major symbols and events of the holiday, and made their own papel picado, a type of colorful banner displayed in homes and in streets. Papel Picado represents the wind, and when it moves, it is said that the loved ones' spirits are nearby.

Check out these creative minds! To get ready for our Zoom with the amazing author, Dan Gutman, we started reading Miss Aker is a Maker. Then, we turned the ITC into our very own Makerspace! 4th and 5th graders became creative problem solvers while participating in the following centers: Perler Art, Clay Circuits, Duct Tape Art, K'nex Creations, and Origami
