Smith School presented its 2nd Annual Holiday Market hosted by the Young Entrepreneurs Club on December 13. The club is comprised of 46 students creating their own items for 25 booths.
Why it matters: The Young Entrepreneurs is a group committed to educating middle school students about the process of creating, marketing, and running their own small business! Students met weekly from the beginning of October through market day to come up with a unique product idea, complete cost/profit analysis, design marketing, and prepare for market day.
What they’re saying: Young Entrepreneurs advisor, Ms. Morfing, said “I have absolutely loved watching these kids create, design and be excited about something. Each student was able to shine outside of the normal confines of school, and it’s amazing to watch their success!”
The Bottom Line: This club is an exceptional opportunity for students to learn important business skills as well as offers a unique way to connect with our community at large.
What’s next: Students get to keep 90% of their profits. The club then voted on a charity to donate 10% of the profits; with this year’s proceeds going to The Tommy Strong Foundation. 💙
