October 7th-October 11th was the Smith School Scholastic Book Fair!
Students & staff visited the book fair all week during ELA classes, before school, after school, and during recess to browse all of the Scholastic offerings.
Why it matters: Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers
By the numbers: This year’s book fair saw over $5,000 in sales, a percentage of which will go towards building our school library resources!
What they’re saying: From our Library Media Specialist, Ms. Kelly: “The book fair is such an exciting event! We look forward to it each year- I love seeing the way students light up when they see their favorite series is being sold at the fair, or when they find something brand new to read.”
Special thanks to the Smith PTO for providing Parent Volunteers, to our ELA teachers for their promotion of this event, Ms. Herbst’s students for setting up & taking down the book fair, and to our Smith library staff for making this event possible!
Go Deeper: The online shopping option for the book fair is still open until October 17th! Shop online to have your next great read shipped to your home
