What's happening: Smith Middle School's 7th graders recently presented their Civic Action Projects. Presenting to classmates and a panel of judges, these young innovators shared insights from months of dedicated research and planning. They passionately put forward recommendations they believe will transform and enhance the Smith Middle School community.
Go deeper: Throughout the planning stage, students identified and selected a topic by researching and surveying students and staff. In the next phase, they developed interview questions for administrators to gain valuable insights from community stakeholders.
Congratulations to all our student presenters as well as our Grade 7 Social Studies teachers: Ms. Acebo, Ms. Aiello, Mr. Schrettner, and Ms. Ung.
What's next: Select student groups will present at Rutgers University’s Youth in Action Summit, where young people from across New Jersey and New York City will be sharing their research and recommendations on topics of deep concern.
