Abby

What's happening: Ramsey High School senior Abby Lorusso has intense focus. Her choice for her Profile Project was born from personal experience, where she saw opportunity to make a difference for others.

Abbyโ€™s project originated from a passion for deepening relationships among all students within the Ramsey School District. Her goal was to foster a stronger sense of community in the town. This led to her decision to create the project based on this premise and to identify ways to bridge the gap between older and younger students.

โ€œMy profile project has special meaning to me. As one of three sisters who grew up attending the Ramsey schools , I felt lucky to have so many connections. I was always in awe of my older sister and her friends and it felt so comforting that they all treated me like their little sister. In turn, my older sister and I were both there for my little sister and her friends - making them feel welcome as Rams too. We would all help each other with classes, navigate relationships with friends and classmates, and even grow in our connections with teachers and staff. I know not every Ramsey student has that same opportunity. I felt it was important to start to form connections for all students. Deepening relationships and building bridges between the older students and the younger makes me feel like I am leaving my mark in the Ramsey community. I truly hope that this project will only continue to grow even after I am gone.โ€ -Abby Lorusso, RHS Senior

The big picture: Abbyโ€™s work included the collaboration of over 50 high school leaders and students at Dater School. Transportation was organized, and the RHS peer leaders visited Dater to engage in team-building and bonding activities with the students. The project will be ongoing throughout the rest of the year, with the hope of continuous growth in the years to come. The endeavor required leadership, organization, commitment, creativity, and communication.
