Ramsey High School administration has chosen Natalie DiGirolamo as the 2024 recipient of the Bergen County Unsung Hero Award.

In collaboration with New Jersey School Boards Association, the Bergen County School Boards Association recognizes a senior student as an unsung hero from each of Bergen County's High Schools.

“Natalie possesses the natural intelligence, organizational skills, passion, and bandwidth to eschew the traps to which the typical teenager often falls prey. She is a voracious reader and an equally voracious baker.

Natalie started a blog about the books she has read and she then joins each book review with a recipe that she believes correlates with the book. It is an interesting hobby for a student who is so fully immersed in the most rigorous academic curriculum we offer. Carving out time to read for pleasure or to engage in hobbies for fun, is an impressive feat for someone with Natalie’s schedule, but she prioritizes the things she values and that give her a sense of purpose. She has volunteered at two local hospitals as well as at a local women’s shelter; these are not cursory endeavors for Natalie. As in all things, she gives freely of her time and fully immerses herself in the experience.” -Dr. Michael Thumm, RHS Principal

One fun thing: Local honorees will be recognized at an event in early March, hosted at Teaneck High School. This award specifically seeks out students who make outstanding contributions to their schools and communities but are often overlooked by other traditional student recognition programs. Congratulations, Natalie! 🎉
