HOBY

What's happening: RHS students Alyse LoRusso and Lily Kriz attended the HOBY (Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Program) this past weekend on behalf of the Ramsey School District.

The philosophy at HOBY is based upon the belief that all students have the potential to lead.

  • Their seminars bring students together from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and communities.

  • HOBY helps students discover a newfound sense of awareness, confidence, connection, and purpose.

What they’re saying:

“My time at the HOBY leadership weekend at Drew University was nothing short of transformative. Immersed in an environment that fostered growth and ambition, I thrived among peers who shared a passion for leadership and making a difference. The networking opportunities were unparalleled, opening doors to future possibilities and providing a glimpse into my potential college journey. But what truly made this experience unforgettable were the friendships I forged—bonds that transcended the confines of the weekend. These friendships, built on mutual respect and shared dreams, have become a cornerstone in my life, offering unwavering support and inspiration long after HOBY ended. Together, we continue to push each other towards our goals, embodying the spirit of leadership and camaraderie that HOBY instilled in us. -Alyse LoRusso, RHS Sophomore

"Participating in the HOBY leadership seminar was an unmatchable experience that I am incredibly thankful for. Not only did I gain unparalleled knowledge, but I made truly transformative relationships. I met encouraging ambassadors from all around New Jersey in addition to generous volunteers and inspiring speakers. The conversations I participated in with these like-minded people provided me with the resources I will need to turn my ideas into a reality. Now, coming out of HOBY I am eager to collaborate with others to foster beneficial change in our community and beyond. I made lifelong friends and the knowledge I gained from this experience will continue to guide me through everything I do in the future. " -Lily Kriz, RHS Sophomore

These seminars are proven to cultivate personal growth and inspire action. Students leave HOBY with the knowledge and passion needed to make a positive impact on the world around them. Being a part of the HOBY community unlocks a world of opportunities and connections beyond the seminars.
