What's happening: Roughly 13 students are participating in the newly formed club, Jam Sesh, at Smith School. Take a moment to meet the musicians who have been rocking out…
🎸 Riley Sterling is on the bass.
🥁 Chris Ozkan and Deor Williams are on the drums.
🎸 Ms. Roscoe on acoustic/electric guitar.
🎙Alishba Kahn, Amanda Estrada, Wendell Zaballero, Sabrina Zaccone, Ayan Chung, Emma Latorre, Melanie Meneses, Alexandra Zizza, and Connor Dunleavy are the vocalists.
What they’re saying: “There are so many talented students at our school. We see it every spring at the annual Variety Show. Our school offers band and chorus, which are more formal groups. So Jam Sesh was formed to be an opportunity for a more student-driven experience to play music that doesn't have to be perfect.” -Brett Roscoe, Jam Sesh Club Leader
The bottom line: Jam Sesh is giving students the opportunity to really take ownership of the group, the choice of the music, and how to put all the pieces together. And it's really cool to witness them do that. They work out the sections and then we come together to play it out a bunch of times. Jam Sesh has covered all kinds of different songs like, "Good Luck, Babe", "Brick in the Wall", and "Since You Been Gone".
Rock on, Rams. 🤘
