Train Assembly

What's happening: Last week, students at Tisdale, Hubbard, and Dater Schools received valuable safety education during a visit from NJ TRANSIT. The staff delivered their "SAFETY RULES!" presentation, highlighting essential guidelines for staying safe around railroad tracks and stations.

Why it matters: In a town with a active train station that intersects Main St., this safety information is vital for our elementary students to have.

  • The 45-minute interactive session engaged students with age-appropriate materials and videos designed to make important safety concepts both accessible and memorable.

  • Students learned critical safety rules including no trespassing on tracks, staying alert around rail systems, obeying all posted signs and signals, using only designated crossing areas, and standing behind safety lines on platforms.

Following the presentation, students participated in a question and answer session, giving them the opportunity to dig deeper into rail safety procedures.

The bottom line: This presentation is part of NJ TRANSIT's ongoing commitment to community safety education. They offer this free program to all public, non-public, and charter schools serving PreK through 12th grade students, as well as community groups throughout New Jersey.
