This weekend is the District’s first of four Homework-Free Weekends for the 2024-25 school year! This is a great opportunity for students, teachers and parents alike to relax and reset!

Students in Ms.Gaffney's precalculus class demonstrate graphing angles in radian measure to their peers. Using both radians and degrees while modeling with mathematics is a necessary skill before moving onto more challenging topics in trigonometry.

NJSIAA Fall Officials Appreciation Week began this past Monday. The week-long observance aims to highlight the dedication, skill, and impartiality of referees, umpires, and other game officials who ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of sports at all levels. The big picture: The Ramsey Board of Education recently adopted a Spectator Code of Conduct policy, which outlines the expectations of spectators at all interscholastic athletic events. We appreciate the outstanding work officials do throughout all athletic seasons.

Students in Mrs. Broderick and Mrs. Donohue's 7th Grade Science Class at Smith School completed the Burning Magnesium Lab today. They collected evidence to decide if burning is a chemical reaction. Through their data collection they considered specific qualities of magnesium before and after burning, learned the chemical equation for burning magnesium, and drew the ball and stick model of the chemical reaction. Future scientists at work!

Congrats to senior Sophia Dallara, who was named a candidate for the "Midfielder of the Year Award" by NJ.com! Sophia is part of the elite soccer talent all around the Garden State. NJ.com selected contenders in 10 categories for the 2024 edition of midseason awards, including forward, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper, rookie, sophomore, comeback player and coach of the year.

For the second consecutive year, Ramsey High School has been named an overall gold-level recipient on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs deliver results and broaden student access. By the numbers: Ramsey High School’s 2024 AP successes included - 270 students taking 591 exams in 23 subjects 48 AP Scholars: scored 3+ on 3+ exams 23 AP Scholars with Honors: scored 3.25+ on 3+ exams 38 AP Scholars with Distinction: scored 4+ on 5 exams …for a total of 109 Scholars!

The Ramsey Board of Education has earned the Carole E. Larsen Master Board Certification through the New Jersey School Board Association (NJSBA) Board Member Academy. 🏆 The Ramsey BOE has demonstrated a high regard for professional development. This certification focuses on key areas such as ethics, goal setting, policy development, finance, communications, community engagement, and student achievement. By the numbers: This is a rare achievement for Boards of Education in New Jersey as Ramsey is only one of six boards in the State to have earned this certification in 2024. 🎉

Today we celebrate National Custodian Appreciation Day! 👏 Big impact: Think of all the hours they’ve put in, often when no one is around to see — prepping for events, cleaning classrooms, waxing floors, sanitizing every surface, and making sure everything is in working order. They create an environment where students and teachers can thrive. 💬 A few words of appreciation can go a long way! Today, we pause to reflect on the events of September 11, 2001. Our approach to students' awareness of the significance of this day in American history will vary by developmental level. As a school community, we honor and remember the victims and heroes of 9/11, together.

Ramsey has a rich tradition in musical education and programs. Big Blue has been recognized over the decades for its excellence. Over the past decade, the choral program has grown and earned its fair share of accolades. This past year, we made a conscious effort to invest in theater education by introducing a theater program at the middle school for the first time.
