A creative 5th grade student shared an idea for a new recess club, and Dater listened! This new game club gives students a chance to meet during recess to learn new games while practicing essential life skills, like turn-taking, cooperation, and good sportsmanship. 🃏🎲

4Guarnieri kicked off 2026 by collaborating, reflecting, and setting new personal and academic goals! Students engaged in meaningful conversations, reflected on their learning, and set intentional goals to challenge themselves and grow! We’re so excited for all they will continue to accomplish this year!



Students in 4Ramsden learned about the layers of the Earth by taking "core samples" of play-doh!

Cold weather, warm welcome! ❄️🔥 The Dater Pep Band jingled all the way this final morning before break, greeting students and staff with festive tunes, big smiles, and a hula-hoop dance challenge for anyone brave enough to jump in the fun. Best way to beat the chill!








After working hard and showing "reel" perseverance during iReady diagnostic testing, Dater students earned a well-deserved movie party complete with popcorn and smiles. 🍿🎬 Thank you to our amazing PTO and some of our wonderful teachers for making the movie magic happen—we’re so proud of the growth our students showed!



A big thank you to Mrs. Fishman and Mrs. Hicks for teaching 5-Frandino about the importance of being upstanders. Our class has officially taken the No Place for Hate pledge!🏀🧡





Students in 4Horton brought holiday/winter cheer to reading class by sharing a favorite book or poem while practicing their fluency. Through expressive reading and confident voices, they celebrated the season while strengthening their literacy skills and love of reading. 📚❄️☃️

Huge thank you to the Dater School PTO for sleigh-ing this year’s holiday luncheon! 🎄✨ The decorations were snow-stopping, the food was absolutely amazing, and our staff felt so merry and bright. We’re so grateful for all the love and cheer you bring to our school each year. ❤️🎁


Dater 5th graders are true leaders. Their bravery shines each day as they present the morning announcements, taking on a responsibility many adults would find intimidating. With clear voices and excellent public-speaking skills, they set a positive tone for the day!

5th graders are generating lists of topics they know a bit about in order to refine their research topic. Talking with a partner provides the opportunity for feedback and new ideas! Jotting in a notebook allows for reflection, organization, and analyzing.
