Students in 4 O'Rourke are enthusiastically diving into our new fanfiction unit. They are demonstrating impressive creativity, strong engagement, and a genuine excitement for reimagining familiar stories.
Students in 5Davidson and 5Johnstone participate in peer reviews for their Historical Fiction process pieces. While working with their peers, they provide compliments as well as positive and constructive feedback on their peer's writing. Working together like this helps us learn from different perspectives, strengthen our ideas, and grow as writers! 📝
5GT is exploring volume and transferring their knowledge using hands on activities and real world scenarios.
4G has officially launched into our Fiction Unit! Students took the time to reflect on their past reading goals, and set new ones for this exciting next unit! They shared helpful strategies to continue growing as readers, and discussed ways to stay motivated and accountable. Goal setting helps readers take ownership of their learning, and celebrate every bit of growth! 📚
In 5 Modesto/Azouri, we worked hard during immersion on a text feature scavenger hunt to prepare for our nonfiction reading unit. We discovered many different types of text features- and had a great time along the way!!
The Veterans Day Assembly honored Dater family members who served in the military. Thank you for your service! Thank you to Mrs. Hicks, Dean of Students, who put together a beautiful event to thank those who attended.
Diwali and Art at Darer School:
Diwali is celebrated with singing, dancing and feasting creating a tremendous sense of community. Traditionally the powders used for art making to celebrate Diwali are made from flowers that friends and family gather, dry and then crushed into fine powders, which are mixed with water to make brilliant colors.
Students in 5 Davidson and Johnstone are working hard to find the volume of the classroom. Measuring the height was a bit challenging, but students got creative to solve it!
