Check this out! In a cultural lesson by Senora King, Spanish classes learned about El DĆa de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, and how it is celebrated in Mexico. It is a very important happy holiday this time of year in Mexico, and is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the lives of those who have passed away. Students learned about the major symbols and events of the holiday, and made their own papel picado, a type of colorful banner displayed in homes and in streets. Papel Picado represents the wind, and when it moves, it is said that the loved ones' spirits are nearby.
