The Dater Musical gives elementary students the opportunity to get their feet wet with theatre performance. Having this creative outlet is not just part of a well-rounded education; it's essential for emotional health and well-being.

Why it matters: Preparing for musicals provides growth opportunities for all varieties of learners. Besides being incredibly fun, musical theater helps young people develop skills like self-confidence, literacy, communication, creativity, empathy, critical thinking and problem-solving, self-direction, collaboration and teamwork.

What they’re saying:"This year's performance of Disney's Finding Nemo Jr. involved 147 students, nearly half of the school's population! Starting in September, students auditioned for their roles, and spent 6 weeks preparing their music, lines, and choreography. It all came together in late November, culminating in a sold out performance for neary 750 people last Monday." -Jim Bogert, Vocal Music Teacher at Dater School
