Congratulations 🎉🎉 to this month’s Attendance Matters winners: Taylor Murphy, Emma Cengarle, Nick Meyers and Michelle Ziff.
Why it matters: Students with unblemished attendance-no absences and no tardies- have a chance to be recognized and win prizes, motivating them to maintain good attendance.
Go deeper: Attendance Works is a nationwide action research project collaborating with school districts, states, and organizations to continuously improve strategies for reducing chronic absence.
When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
