Poll

What's happening: Ramsey High School students participated in the Bergen County Board of Elections poll worker training on May 20th.

Why it matters: By participating in the electoral process, high school students gain firsthand experience in how democracy functions. It connected our students to broader themes of civic engagement, education, and community involvement.

What they’re saying: "This is a great opportunity for our students. It's a joy to see young people so eager to participate in the civic process.” -Brennan Heffernan, RHS Supervisor of Social Studies & World Language

The additional benefits of participation go beyond obvious educational advantages, extending into several other impactful areas:

This opportunity helps bridge generational gaps, fostering understanding and collaboration between younger and older citizens.
✅ In addition, older poll workers will provide mentorship moments, providing guidance and sharing their experiences, which can be enriching for young people.

Having high school students as poll workers ensures polling places better represent the community, enhancing the election experience to be more inclusive and accessible for all voters.
