The Super Bowl 58 champions may have been the Kansas City Chiefs, but here at Smith we have our SOUPer Bowl champs! Last week, students and staff got to participate in a series of Spirit Days all while bringing in canned good donations in the hopes of winning their homeroom a pizza lunch! This year’s collection resulted in an impressive 1,000 donations to Ramsey Responds. Congratulations to Mrs. Broderick’s homeroom with the winning number of donations- 166 cans collected! A Special Shoutout to the runners up- Mrs. Morfing’s homeroom with 147 items collected and Mrs. Murphy’s homeroom with 124👏 This event was a TOUCHDOWN for our community! GO RAMS🐏

Earlier this week at Smith: The 7th grade ELA hosted a series of debates! After weeks of research on topics-ranging from Social Media use, the ethics of junk food advertisements, learning cursive in school, and the use of cash versus credit cards- students came together for a cross-grade debate where they were asked to state their side clearly and effectively argue their point of choice while utilizing quotes, facts, and figures relevant to the argument at hand. Thank you to Ms. Johnson, Ms. Csengeto, Ms. Paone, and Mrs. Salerni for making this wonderful opportunity possible!

In Mr. Schrettner's Classroom (Smith School): The past, present, and future collide today in 6th-grade social studies as students present their end-of-unit project. Students were tasked to create a proposal to the U.S. Congress on a potential new memorial. Throughout the process, students reflected on how memorials bridge past, present, and future conversations.
The Smith Best Buddies made a “chain of kindness” that is decorating the main office. The club members and staff decorated links describing acts of kindness, people who are kind, and inspirational quotes💖
