ruler

💡 Big Idea: We use RULER tools that are helpful in managing our emotions.

⁉️ Why Does This Matter: It’s important for students and staff to utilize a common language and tools to help our learning community know how to treat one another in times where emotions might be high. In our efforts of helping students resolve conflict and handle times when they may be feeling frustrated, we offer tools and strategies that teach critical life skills.

➡️ Next Steps:

  • We want you to consider using this same language at home that we use at school.

  • Staff uses the Meta-Moment tool to help students stop, pause and think before reacting in situations. Watch this video where, Marc Brackett, from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence explains the purpose of the Meta-Moment.

  • Print and use the tools below, make them visible and use them at home when you’re searching for the language or strategies to use in situations that you encounter at home. I’ve included two, so choose the one you think will work well with your family:
