The Unified Bowling team & STEP continued to celebrate Inclusive Schools Week with a Unified cookie exchange just in time for the holidays. Students were tasked to bring in cookies that represented a family tradition, celebrated their culture, or were something they loved. Happy holidays to all!
The STEM Starters Club inspired Dater students' curiosity and interest for science by making fake snow and spaghetti towers on Friday. It was so fun!
Best Buddies continued the conversation about inclusion in celebration of Inclusive Schools Week and our daily efforts in making our school and community a place that welcomes and celebrates ALL. We watched Out of My Mind, a movie about a girl named Melody with Cerebral Palsy who has difficulties with communicating and living a typical life. She is seen as "weird and different" at her school and is not included by all her peers and teachers. The movie takes the audience along as she finds her voice when given an augmentative communication device and learns how to speak up and stand up for herself in a world that can be unfair and cruel. Melody teaches those around her the importance of inclusion, and she certainly left our RHS audience inspired and ready to continue our work in making Ramsey a place that everyone can call home.
Happening now: Movies at Lunch!! As a continuation of Inclusive schools week, Best Buddies hosts a screening of "Out of My Mind," the story of Melody, a young girl with cerebral palsy who has a photographic memory. Melody is frustrated that she can't communicate with her family and control her body. When she joins a school team with "regular" kids, she thinks she's on her way to being accepted. Come on by during lunch today and tomorrow and enjoy the show!
Ramsey S.T.E.P. hosted their first holiday party at the Ramsey Community Center and invited our transition friends from Lakeland, Park Ridge, and Pascack Valley school districts. It was an afternoon filled with joy, fun activities, laughter, and friendship, old and new. We couldn't think of a better way to spend this holiday season than to spread some cheer with people we love.
Happy Tuesday! It's time to represent higher education on College Day!

Yesterday, the Sullivan sisters, Alexa (Grade 2) and Avery (Grade 4), visited the Board of Education offices to record the inclement weather announcements for the 2024-2025 school year. The lucky winners of the RPEF raffle did a great recording their extremely cute early dismissal, delayed opening, and snow day announcements! ☃
How are you celebrating Inclusive Schools Week? At RHS, Dr. Thumm lead our first Inclusivity Summit where representatives of extracurricular clubs came together to discuss the inclusive practices we already have in place and brainstorm ways we can continue to create a culture and community that is celebratory of all individuals. The summit concluded in taking a pledge to be kind, empathetic individuals who welcome everyone despite our differences. We can't wait to hang up this banner at RHS as a reminder of what we stand for. Be on the lookout for Best Buddies over the next few weeks during lunch so YOU can also take the pledge and sign your name.
For Inclusive Schools Week, Angus and Erin from RHS worked together to read a book about authenticity to Tisdale students. Angus was able to use his communication device to introduce himself and share what makes him unique and to help him read clearly to the class. The class then shared and wrote about what makes each one of them unique. The finished products will be placed on Tisdale's wall of inclusion. We feel so fortunate to have been a part of this very special read aloud. Thank you, Tisdale and Ms. Cedola for including us 📚 💙 💛!
AP Environmental Science students gathered human survivorship data from Union Cemetery yesterday. They will use the data collected to analyze survivorship trends from Pre-1900 to Post-1900. This field trip also had students uncover information about local historical figures such as John Y. Dater and Peter Ramsey.
AP Research students learned about replicability, feasibility, and limitations of research methods with cookies! 🍪 Students followed each other's written procedures to try to replicate their original cookie designs!
Mrs. Altiero's AP Lit students watching Romeo & Juliet on Broadway!
Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful connections with family and friends. 🍂 🐏
