Al Romeo - HOF Inductee

The Bergen County Boys Soccer Coaches Association proudly announced that this year’s inductee, Al Romeo, will join the Hall of Fame. Romeo, a veteran Physical Education and Health teacher at Smith Middle School, played a pivotal role in expanding teams in the North Jersey Youth Soccer League and the Pascack Valley Indoor Soccer League.

⚽ Under his leadership, Paramus Youth Soccer also gained access to the Teaneck Armory Indoor Soccer Leagues, a significant milestone for the program.

⚽ Romeo began his high school coaching career in 2000 as the Assistant Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at Ramsey High School, where the team won multiple league and state championships during his tenure.

⚽ From 2005 to 2007, he served as the Assistant Boys Varsity Soccer Coach at Paramus High School, eventually taking the reins as Head Coach from 2008 to 2015. Under his leadership, Paramus celebrated its first Bergen County Championship as co-champions with Ramapo High School, secured three league titles, and qualified for the Bergen County Tournament for ten consecutive years.

"Al Romeo’s induction into the Bergen County Boys Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame is a true reflection of his incredible dedication, leadership, and love for the game. His ability to inspire players, foster sportsmanship, and build successful programs has left a lasting legacy not just at Ramsey, but across Bergen County soccer. This honor is well-deserved, and we are proud to celebrate his contributions to the sport and the lives he has positively influenced over the years." –Andrew Herre, RHS Athletic Director

In 2016, Romeo volunteered as an assistant coach for the Emerson Boys Soccer team, where he helped guide the team to a league title, the Bergen County Tournament, and the finals of the state sectional tournament. That year, his exceptional contributions earned him the Bergen County Coaches Association's Assistant Soccer Coach of the Year award.

His volunteer coaching continued with the Ramsey Girls Varsity Soccer team in 2017 and 2018, helping them achieve both league and state sectional titles.

This prestigious accolade not only highlights his impressive achievements but also celebrates the profound and positive impact he has made on youth and high school soccer.

Congratulations! 🎉
