Ramsey High School takes pride in offering opportunities for students to take part authentic learning experiences that allow them to build muscle memory to draw from in future situations. Yesterday, over 30 Stryker employees heard our Design Thinking Final Pitch at the Stryker campus in Mahwah. Students presented their thoughtful, and actionable prototype solutions.

For those not familiar with our Design Thinking Program: The Design Thinking process, as developed by Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design.
Design thinking is a methodology which provides a human centered approach to solving problems. It’s extremely useful when used to tackle complex problems that are ill-defined or unknown. The process leverages empathy to understand the human needs involved. It requires those who use the method to reframe the problem in human-centric ways, and to generate numerous ideas in brainstorming sessions. Participants employ a hands-on approach to prototyping and testing. Once prepared to utilize design thinking methodology, our students are empowered to solve complex problems that occur in companies, communities, and daily life.
The stages in the design thinking methodology are not always sequential; designers may revisit and iterate between them as they work towards innovative solutions. The world today has a multitude of complex problems that will only be solved with effective methodologies like design thinking along with thoughtful humans prepared to lead. Our graduates will be these thoughtful humans!
Spring Band Show in full swing!
This month, The Friendship Cafe collaborated with Relay for Life. S.T.E.P. was very proud to help the RHS Relay for Life team raise money for cancer research!
It has been an honor to be included in so many of our senior friends' profile projects this school year. This next profile project is based on the importance of building bridges and establishing meaningful relationships across schools, ages, and abilities. Christie has started our pen pal relationships with Ms. Nagy's kindergarten class at Tisdale. We are so excited to send our letters to our new friends and look forward to meeting in person.
RHS Design Thinking students make their final pitches to Stryker to help increase female participation in STEM careers. Students pitched curriculum partnerships, mentoring relationships, and multiple ways to bring STEM education to students.
